Design Events 2022 - Maison Et Objet Paris

by Kristin Firine

Major design events around the world connect and unify everyone. They showcase the collective incoming trends and movements in the interior design and architectural world. Twice a year in Paris is Maison&Objet. It is a trade fair that exhibits over 3,000 brands and designers that showcase products from home decor and interior design to lifestyle industries. Divided into sections, Maison is decoration and interiors while Objet is objects and accessories.

Envelop into the world of design and interiors through the French eye, this event happens alongside Paris Design Week and is an absolute must for those passionate about interiors and interior design. This year postponed due to the pandemic, the fair that normally opens in January was moved from March 24-March 28th.

This year there were many common themes like bold color pairings and high contrast shown throughout the trade fair. We can’t help but be inspired by all of the creativity. At Design Theory we believe fundamentally that designs for everyone, and the classics belong in every home. Exploring all of the exhibitors inspired us to think about how our Design Theory pieces would pair so well with what we saw at Maison&Objet.

The Rug Society showcased graphic rug designs. Like art for the floor, this would pair perfectly with the Soriana collection. Shown below in the Carnation velvet fabric it would lean the room to a more feminine aesthetic. Pair with our Midnight Teal Velvet, or perhaps Mist Grey Wool Cashmere for a more neutral and moody aesthetic.

Uchronia World was featured in the trade fair with their ‘Uchronia Cafe’ featuring bold colors and swirling elements. Immediately we began thinking about all of our bold color options available and how anyone could recreate the feeling of this installation. A living room with a cluster of the ‘Womb Chairs’ in Chartreuse linen, Soft Pink Linen, or perhaps Sunflower Yellow Linen. Or maybe a dining room where each ‘Warren Platner’ Chair showcases a different colored fabric for a playful and bold take.

For those who love Paris but have never coincided with Paris Design Week, or those dreaming of the baguettes and croissants by the Eiffel Tower for the first time, Maison&Objet is a fair that is not to be missed. We know we at Design Theory will be pulling inspiration from this event all year, until the next one that is.
